Sports Skills Group (6–8-year-olds)

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to help your child develop essential sports skills?  Join our Sports Skills Group designed specifically for children ages 6 to 8 years old! Our program focuses on teaching the fundamentals needed for participation in community-based sports programs, including both physical and social aspects of sports participation. This four-week program will meet on Saturdays for 90 minutes per session. Each week we will explore a different sport, and parents will receive home activity recommendations that will continue building skills long after the class is done!

Program Highlights:

• Skill Development: Improve eye/hand coordination, balance, running, and gross motor coordination.
• Sports Techniques: Learn ball handling, using sports equipment, and basic techniques for each sport.
• Social Skills: Practice following directions, waiting in line, taking turns, cooperating with others, and regulating behavior in a group setting.

Weekly Themes:

  • Week 1: Baseball – Throwing, catching, and base running
  • Week 2: Soccer – Dribbling, kicking, passing, and playing in a team.
  • Week 3: Basketball – Dribbling, passing, catching and teamwork.
  • Week 4: Tennis – Racket handling, footwork and basic strokes.
